Orange  After obtaining the agreement of the American authorities, the operator confirmed the construction of a new submarine cable, connecting the State of Massachusetts to the United States, to France and Le Porge, a town surrounding Bordeaux . A response to meet the growing need for connectivity in North America and Europe.

Commissioning from 2022, to meet the growing demand for connectivity

Orange, which will be responsible for the French part of the two cables, will benefit from two pairs of fiber for a total capacity estimated at 100 Tbit / s. That's around 15 million HD movies downloaded at the same time. The installation of this cable near Bordeaux will transform the region into a global digital hub. What to encourage  "the establishment of new data centers to support its digital ecosystem" , indicates Orange.

Ensure concrete technological performance at least over the next 20 years

The Dunant and Amitié cables reassure Orange. They offer the French operator the ability to maintain a high level of performance for the next 20 years, or even beyond. This performance will be materialized by optimal latency, the very latest technologies or alternative routes.

Thanks to its new generation optical fiber pairs and a secure end-to-end solution, Orange will be able to provide technology to both the  wholesale  (department stores, e-commerce platforms, etc.) and businesses, whether they are located in France, Europe or North America.

Orange is in any case a real blow and conforms its aura and its power on the world market for submarine cables. The French company today carries a network of 45,000 km of fiber on four continents: Europe, America, Africa and Asia, with its 300 points of presence.
